Police seek persons of interest in Ville Platte homicide

Chief Neal Lartigue with the Ville Platte Police Department requests the public's assistance with an ongoing homicide investigation.

On July 22, 2013 at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Ville Platte Police Department received notification of a shooting that took place on East Wilson Street. Upon arrival officers discovered a black male had been shot.

Acadian Ambulance arrived on scene and Detectives were notified. Acadian Ambulance transported the victim to Mercy Regional Medical Center and then to Lafayette by Acadian Air Med. The victim later died as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting. The name of the victim has not been released.

The Ville Platte Police Department is asking citizens for assistance in locating persons of interest. Chief Lartigue stated that these two men are not wanted for arrest at this time. Chief Lartigue said, "They are persons of interest and the detectives need to speak with them." If you know the whereabouts of Roekenski Vodise Thomas and Hilton Wilson, you are asked to call 363-1313. All callers will remain anonymous.

Chief Lartigue added, "The investigation into this homicide is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time."
