LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - The Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce has chosen its new leader from the top ranks of the Louisiana Department of Economic Development.
The chamber of commerce announced Friday that Jason El Koubi, assistant secretary at the state economic development agency, was unanimously chosen as its new president and CEO.
El Koubi will begin his new job in September. He will take over from Rob Guidry, who is retiring after 25 years as chamber president.
Before working for the state economic development department, El Koubi was policy director of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.
He was chosen by the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce's board of directors from a pool of more than 250 applicants from 25 states, according to the announcement statement.
