Lafayette police are investigating three weekend shootings. They've made an arrest in one investigation and are still looking for multiple suspects in connection with the other two.
50-year-old Diana McZeal is behind bars charged with two counts of second degree murder. She's accused of shooting two women in the arm near the intersection of Dolese and Mabel streets. Officers say the two female victims, aged 23 and 24 went to McZeal's house to try and start a fight with her daughter. Mczeal walked out with a hand gun and shot them both. They only had minor injuries and are in stable condition.
Authorities are searching for suspects involved in a drive-by shooting on the 300 block of Ena Street around three Sunday morning. Police say a newer model Chevrolet Camaro drove by with two occupants and fired multiple shots in the direction of a male victim. He was hit in the leg and is recovering in the hospital.
A group of men involved in a shooting in the early morning hours of Saturday are also still on the loose. Officers say a male victim told them after 2 a.m. he was confronted by three black men all armed with hand guns, near the intersection of Chestnut and Third Street. The victim fled the area on foot while being pursued by the suspects and was picked up a short distance away by a second man in a car. That's when police say the suspects shot at the two men in the car hitting the driver in the neck but is expected to recover.
