Folks were in Church Point this weekend to celebrate what used to be a common form of travel here in south Louisiana.
It was the 31st annual Church Point Buggy Festival and it serves as a fundraiser in support of the Acadia-St. Landry Hospital. Through the years, this event has not only allowed the hospital to remain open but provided enough funds to add several new departments and expand into a top notch rural hospital.
Organizers say buggies were used in parts of Acadiana, and Church Point until the 1950's.
