The city of Gueydan is trying to get funding for a new fire station. During Tuesday morning's segment of "Brewing Issues", Mayor David Dupuis says the effort has already begun.

"We are in the process of hopefully obtaining a loan from the United States Department of agriculture to construct a new fire station which will be located by city hall.  The project is a $900,000 project, state of the art."

The mayor says the new fire station would replace the old one now at city hall, with three bays. He also says the new facility will hopefully help reduce the cost of home-fire insurance for Gueydan residents.
