Acadiana residents came together Wednesday evening to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured along the streets in a Ride of Silence.
Dozens gathered at the Mickey Shunick Ghost Bike Memorial to remind motorists to be extra alert of cyclists and to safely share the road during bike awareness month. Cyclists were encouraged to wear helmets, ride no faster than 12 mph, and remain silent during the ride.
The Ride of Silence is a worldwide event to honor the lives of riders and raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to share the road.
