Residents in Erath will soon have a new place to purchase fresh produce and hear live music.
A ribbon cutting was held Monday for the newly constructed Erath Park Pavilion. Officials say the pavilion will be used for community events such as festivals, family gatherings and a farmers market.
"There has been a need for this type of facility in Erath for a long time," said Twin Parish Port Commission Director Wendell Verret.
Built at a cost of $83,983, the pavilion is a 30 foot by 50 foot covered, open air pavilion on a concrete slap. Officials hope to open the Erath Farmers Market starting this summer.
