Horse Farm Receives Major Funding

Posted:

A new development in the funding of the 100 acre horse farm being turned into a city park took a leap forward Thursday night after the Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority pledged to donate  2.6 million dollars to the advancement of the park plans.

The LPTFA is a self-supporting public authority that makes money through investments and financing and uses the proceeds to support public projects.

Although the park will be city owned, it will require private donations to fund its construction and ongoing maintenance.

A total price tag for the park is still undetermined at this time. An outreach program is set for this August to allow the community to say what types of activities they want to see available at the park.

Construction is planned for the fall of 2014.
