PATTERSON, La. (AP) - The Patterson Police Department is adding a couple of the two-wheeled electric scooters known as Segways to its law enforcement tools.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle tells the Daily Review that the vehicles will complement the department's bicycle control and allow officers to spend more time getting to know Patterson residents.
The police chief said he expects to deploy the Segway's throughout Patterson in a variety of ways including policing during festivals and parades. Currently they are primarily used around the Patterson Junior High School campus.
