Eunice woman arrested after pit bulls attack mailman

Eunice Police have arrested the pit bill owner whose dogs attacked a mailman and a police officer.

30-year-old Nicole Courville is charged with cruelty to animals, negligent injury and animals running loose.

Police say the mailman was attacked by two pit bulls in the 800 block of Alexander Street. When police arrived to the scene, one dog attacked the officer causing him to fire his weapon.

One dog was shot dead, the other ran away. The dog was later captured along with a third dog Animal Control found tied up in the yard without proper food and water.

The mailman and the injured officer was transported to a hospital for treatment.
