Shrimp season will open in some Louisiana waters Tuesday morning at 6:00 AM. The State Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says the season opens in a portion of territorial waters between Caillou Boca and the Atchafalaya River ship Channel.
The department says samples taken by its biologists indicate that small white shrimp have reached "marketable" sizes within these waters.
The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission is scheduled to consider opening dates for the 2013 spring inshore shrimp season at a meeting on May 2nd.
