Posted: Updated:

Members of the Louisiana House Appropriations Committee had another day of public testimony, hearing from those who could be affected by this year's state budget.

Governor Bobby Jindal proposed a $24.7 billion budget is far less than last year and many programs will feel the pinch. Over the past two days people have filled a committee room at the State Capitol, pleading to lawmakers to reverse proposed budget cuts.

Beth Meeks with the Louisiana Coalition against Domestic Violence says programs statewide are slated for a $2.4 million cut which Meeks says will set Louisiana back years.

Another service looking to get more funding is for the Now Waivers, which provide waivers to families with children who are developmentally disabled. The waivers give family the funds to provide the services needed for their family. The proposed $24.7 billion state budget goes into effect July 1.
