Lafayette Man Accused of Stealing Pit Bull Puppies at Gun Point

A Lafayette man is now behind bars for allegedly robbing someone at gun point.

19-year-old Shaquille Batiste was arrested by Lafayette police on a charge of armed robbery. Police say Batiste robbed the victim when he met with him to buy two pit bull puppies.

Authorities say Batiste stole the puppies, along with a cellphone and a backpack. Batiste is being held in the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. His bond has been set at $250,000.
