Since Governor Bobby Jindal scrapped his tax swap proposal, it's left many lawmakers wondering what's next?"
District 49 State Representative Simone Champagne says since the governor is asking lawmakers to still phase out income taxes, there will be much debate on what will supplement the 3 billion dollar gap if they are repealed.
"I really do like the idea of a phase out of income tax. When it comes to tax increases I'm not for that to get there, but I think we should look at exemptions."
District 96 State Representative Terry Landry says getting rid of income taxes is not the way to go. Landry says he'd rather see the Governor accept a plan that would lower income taxes on those most vulnerable.
"It now is up to legislators to come up with a plan, what he is willing to accept, he says he wants to get rid of income taxes I don't know if I can support that or will my colleagues."
Wednesday is only day 2 of the 2013 legislative session, there is still a lot of debate ahead.
