Proposed Legislative Bills Support Cajun Heritage

Senator Fred Mills, R-Parks, has filed a bill that would allow citizens to put *I'm a Cajun* in black font below a person's photo on their driver's license or state ID card.

The fee will costs $5 a year and $20 for 4 years.

The money raised would go to helping the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana also known as CODOFIL.

If approved, you'll be able to participate beginning January 1, of 2014.

Similar legislation has also been filed which allows for a resident to put "I'm Cajun...and proud" on their license plate.

That bill was filed by Rep. Mike Huval, R-Breaux Bridge.
