Fatal Crash on Congress


One man is in jail and another is dead following a late night crash Thursday. The crash happened just before 11:00 PM Thursday night, at the intersection of West Congress Street and Highway 724.

According to police, the driver of an SUV 29 year old Gerard Richard passed a stop sign and crashed into a pick-up truck.

Richard and two other passengers were not wearing seatbelts and sustained injuries. They were taken to a local hospital, where one of them 21 year old Harold Arnold died.

The driver of the truck was not injured. At the time of the crash, Richard was impaired by alcohol.

He was arrested and charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injury, open alcohol container, and suspended driver's license.
