Keana Barnes, the prison escapee who was captured in Los Angeles last week after escaping from the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women, has returned to the St. Gabriel facility.
The 33-year-old Barnes waived extradition in a Los Angeles federal court and was escorted back to Louisiana by correctional officers on Thursday.
Pam Laborde, spokeswoman for the Louisiana Department of Corrections, said Barnes had been serving a 25-year sentence for manslaughter in the killings of James Robert Shepherd and Perry Jennings Jr.
On Jan. 1, corrections officials say Barnes escaped when she climbed out a dorm room window after she broke it and then climbed over a perimeter gate.
Barnes had been added to the U.S. Marshals Service's 15 Most Wanted fugitive list in March.
