With just one week to go before the start of the 2013 legislative session, elected officials are preparing for, what some are calling, their toughest session yet. District 44 State Representative Vincent Pierre agrees, it will be his most challenging session. Particularly, Governor Jindal's plan to eliminate income taxes with higher state sales tax. Pierre says he still has a lot of questions and concerns about it and will not make any decision without further research. Pierre says he is also focusing on the 5 bills he has filed this session.
"The firefighters' retirement bill where their sick leave can now be put into their retirement it's something firefighters locally want. I will carry that bill for firefighters in Lafayette." stated Pierre.
Pierre was featured Monday morning during our segment called Brewing Issues. The series runs between 6 and 7 AM, with news 10's Rob Mallia interviewing elected officials on issues facing our state.
