The Lafayette Public trust financing authority is on track to buy the former Greyhound bus station, opening the doors for a new police substation to move in. The city parish council approved an ordinance giving up the local government's right of first refusal to purchase the land, giving LPTFA its blessing to pursue the purchase. Lafayette Consolidated Government received that right of first refusal as part of an earlier lawsuit settlement.
For now, plans to convert the facility into a police substation are still in early stages.
