
It was something that was all but approved in back in 2011, but due to a snafu the bill to abolish the city of Kaplan's Civil Service Board never made it to the state legislature. So the council had to wait another two years before they could look to do the same thing however, Tuesday the council had a change of heart.
The welfare of city employees became the main reason the move to abolish the Civil Service Board was rescinded by a vote of 3 to 2.
Now Mayor Champagne says he will have to look elsewhere to find ways of cutting costs in Kaplan.
