The sexual battery trial of former LSU running back Charles Scott began Tuesday in a state district court in Ascension Parish. Scott was booked into the Ascension Parish jail in November 2011 after allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman at his Prairieville home. The 24-year-old was arraigned later on the lesser charge of sexual battery instead of the crime of simple rape he originally was accused of committing.
In February Scott pleaded not guilty. Because Scott's right to a jury trial was waived, it could be completed in as little as two days.
