Monday five area legislators kicked off the monthly news maker forums by joining the Acadiana Press Club. State Senator Fred Mills, along with representatives Simon Champagne, Joel Robideaux, Terry Landry, and Vincent Pierre met at South Louisiana Community College for the first monthly luncheon.
At the luncheon, they discussed major issues of the upcoming legislative session, and took questions from media and the public. And some even voiced their opinion of Governor Jindal's tax plan.
"But all the people I've spoken too, especially the people I represent, do not think that this is a good bill. Um, (I) believe that it is an aggressive bill that is going to have the biggest impact on working people and poor people. We think that this is going to have a negative impact on working people and poor people" said Landry.
The Acadiana Press Club will host public lunch meetings on the third Monday of each month in the Ardoin building at SLCC.
