Calcasieu Parish Fatal Crash

An early Sunday morning traffic accident in Moss Bluff claimed the life of a Westlake man.  Calcasieu Parish sheriff's deputies say 26-year-old Jerry W. Sonnier Jr. was traveling west on Gateway Drive around 2:45 a.m. at a high rate of speed when his car ran off the roadway, striking a ditch and culvert.  Officials say Sonnier was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.  Sonnier's passenger, 25-year-old Jamie G. Stratton of Lake Charles, was taken to a local hospital and is listed in serious condition.
