
On March 15, 2013, at approximately 11:30 pm, Lafayette Police responded to the 100 block of Wilkins regarding a shooting. According to witnesses, the victim was inside of a residence when he answered a knock at the door. When the victim opened the door, the suspect shot the victim once in the chest with a pistol.
The suspect, only described as a black male, fled the area on foot. The victim, a 23 year old male of Lafayette, was transported to an area hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Police were able to recover a weapon near the residence. The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
