A suspect heading to trial Thursday morning on a forcible rape charge, avoided his trial by accepting a plea deal.
Jason Barras was charged with the forcible rape of an Abbeville woman in May of last year while they were both guests in an Abbeville home. Barras was facing up to 20 years in prison but instead took the plea deal this morning that gives him only 6 years of hard labor and one year of credit for his time already served.
