NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A convicted killer who escaped the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women in St. Gabriel has been added to a list of the U.S. Marshal Service's 15 most wanted fugitives.
Authorities say the reward money in the case of Keana Barnes also has increased to $25,000.
The 33-year-old Barnes had been serving a 25-year manslaughter sentence for killing two men before she escaped ...the lockup on Jan. 1.
State corrections officials said she broke a window in her dorm room and scaled several fences, including at least one barbed-wire fence.
Barnes was charged in the 2002 fatal stabbing of James Robert Shepherd, accused of stabbing him 17 times. In March 2003, she fatally shot Perry Jennings Jr. as he slept and then stole his vehicle, pistol and credit cards.
