Governor Bobby Jindal says help is on the way for upwards of 150 families who were forced to evacuate their homes along Bayou Corne last summer following the sudden appearance of a sinkhole.
During a meeting with a group of Assumption Parish Officials in Baton Rouge Monday Governor Jindal announced he'll meet with Texas Brine this Wednesday to push for an expedited buy-out for families who have been forced out by the sink hole that was created by the partial collapse of a salt cavern owned by Texas Brine.
Governor Jindal has also ordered state officials to prepare a series of contingency plans to respond to anything from a sudden increase in the size of the sinkhole to the release of potentially deadly hydrogen sulphide gas.
