Broussard Fire Protection Woes

Posted:

Currently fire protection services in Broussard are provided by Lafayette, but that may not be the case if a current lawsuit against the Hub City isn't dropped.

As we've been reporting Broussard is suing Lafayette over allegations the Hub City unreasonably annexed land into its city limits.  And for that reason Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel says drop the suit or pay the consequences.

"Durel: We have notified the fire department that as of April 30th we will no longer provide fire dispatch for them. I want to stress this is something the government of Broussard has made and if they drop the lawsuit we will provide services."

Rob Mallia speak with officials in Broussard to hear what they are going to do if fire services are terminated and how residents could have financial repercussions if a solution isn't brought to the table in this report.
