Consumer advocate Erin Brockovich, the woman who inspired the 2000 film, and a California attorney came to Pierre Part on Saturday afternoon to discuss litigation with residents evacuated due to the Assumption Parish sinkhole.
Attorney Thomas Girardi and his law firm are putting together multiple individual law suits against Texas Brine Co. for the failure of their cavern.
Brockovich was on hand at the meeting inside the American Legion Hall to help the 50 residents who already signed up with Girardi's firm and others.
According to Brockovich the law suits could take up to 2 years depending on Brine's level of participation.
She was also stressing to residents that the suits are also about a wider issues, like government and corporate responsibility.
