Lafayette, LA - AcA is honored to serve as host for the American Association of Community Theatre's Region VI Festival! This premier community theatre event will take place April 18 - 21 at the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Lafayette, Louisiana.
The festival will feature outstanding community theatre productions from Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. To participate the theatres must first take part in an AACTFest approved state festival and be recommended for advancement by top adjudicators who are professionals in the world of theatre.
Expert adjudicators will also be present at AcA to view each of the performances. On the final day of the festival the winners will be announced including which production will represent the region at the national festival this summer in Carmel, IN.
This year's performances will take place in the new, state-of-the-art James D. Moncus Theater. Opened in 2010, this 300-seat theater is primarily used for musical performances, dance, lectures and a variety of presentations and community events.
The public is invited to attend all activities.
AACTFest 2013's national festival will take place June 19 – 23 and will showcase 12 community theatre productions from across the United States and the U.S. Military Overseas.
AACTFest is a program of the American Association of Community Theatre. It is a biennial event that was first held in 1969 as FACT – Festival of American Community Theatre. When AACT was founded in 1987, the festival name was changed to AACTFest.
The American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) provides networking, resources and support to suit the needs of those involved in community theatre. AACT represents the interests of more than 7,000 theatres across the United States and its territories, as well as theatre companies with the armed services overseas.
