UL Tuition Increase - KLFY News 10

UL Tuition Increase

On Tuesday, the University of Louisiana Systems Board of Supervisors approved a 10% tuition increase for the 2013-2014 school year.

The increase could have in state students paying almost $600  more for their education. While not official, the hikes are likely to happen, if the universities meet standards laid out in the GRAD act.

The act states universities can increase tuition if the campus meets performance measures. Officials with the UL Systems told KLFY, they expect all nine campuses to meet the standards.

The UL Systems, once heavily funded by the state, have to fund themselves from tuition increases in order to offset cuts by the state. Before the increase can become official, the higher education policy board, or the board of regents will have to give their final approval.
