New Indictment in DWI Bribery Probe

United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley has announced a new indictment related to the bribery probe of the 15th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Robert Williamson, a private detective in Lafayette has been indicted by federal grand jury on;

  1. 1 count of conspiracy
  2. 6 counts of bribery
  3. 1 count of social security fraud
  4. 1 count of making a false statement to an FBI agent

Williamson was also fraudulent obtaining driver's safety training course certificates.

 

5th DWI Bribery Suspect Pleads Guilty

Sandra Degeyter pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit bribery in Lafayette Federal Court Friday. She appeared before Magistrate Judge Hanna. She's the 5th person to plead guilty in the ongoing bribery investigation of the DA's office.

The U.S. Attorney's Office has charged another person in a bribery investigation into the Lafayette Parish court system that has expanded to include former employees of the Acadiana Outreach Center.

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) According to a federal court document filed Friday, Sandra Degeyter, who worked at the center until October 2009, faces one count of conspiracy to commit bribery.

The Advocate reports a bill of information charged Degeyter with conspiring with Elaine Crump, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of misprision of a felony for not reporting the scheme she was involved in.

Both Degeyter and Crump were case workers at AOC.

The alleged scheme involved Degeyter signing documents that verified clients of AOC had completed court-ordered community service work when they had not.
