Police Make Arrest in Thursday Shooting


Lafayette, LA - On Thursday, February 21, 2013, at approximately 10:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to the 400 block of Edison Street regarding a shooting in progress. The victim advised that he was at his residence when the suspect, Fenton J. Carter (25) of Lafayette, stopped in front of his home in a blue Chevrolet Caprice. Carter allegedly began screaming at the victim and then produced a handgun, firing multiple shots in the direction of the victim. The suspect fled the area in the vehicle. The victim was not injured.

Investigators were able to obtain an arrest warrant for Fenton Carter for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. At approximately 9:30 pm, Carter was arrested without incident in Lafayette by Lafayette Police. The investigation remains ongoing.
