Mayor Morrison says the Scott's Comprehensive Master Plan was a year in the making. Morrison calls it the blueprint of how Scott residents would like to see their city 20 years from now. A plan in the making - has finally been made.
Troy Bergeron is the planning commission chairman. He says the master plan is the public's plan. "Everything from clergy to schools, to the different community members; they came together, land owners, business owners."
The commission was merely the vehicle by which the residents spoke. Yolanda Senegeal is a longtime resident and a planning commission member. The plan demanded time and dedication - for her it was worth it "It was a lot of meetings, but we are so family-oriented that everyone came together."
Mayor Morrison says Scott is the first in Lafayette Parish to have its master plan completed and adopted by its council. Morrison says it's not his plan it's the people's plan. "Old and young and said this is how we want to see it look. This is what we want for Scott. This is what we want to do," says the mayor.
The mayor says the people of Scott want to move forward and the mayor wants the city to grow; even beyond his time in office. "I will probably be sitting at home reading the paper and the next mayor will be doing what he needs to do with the plan. That's great. Now, we don't have to play politics. We have the plan from the people. This is what the people would like to see," says Morrison.
