It started within a few days of the school shooting in Connecticut that left 20 children and six adults dead. When an outraged country began demanding something be done to stop such acts of violence. The Obama administration was quick to respond.
The President himself signed 23 executive orders designed to make it more difficult for potential trouble makers to get their hands on weapons.
The Vice President was placed in charge of a commission to study the merits of a second ban on military style rifles and high capacity magazines for those types of weapons, as well as for pistols.
What's followed since has been an unprecedented run on everything from the types of rifles and magazines that could be included in a future ban to hand guns and ammunition for all sorts of firearms that aren't even currently being considered.
