Two Year old Child Dies, Warrant Issued for Driver

Lafayette, LA – On January 17, 2013, 2 year old Kylan Jackson of Opelousas died from his injuries at a Baton Rouge hospital. Traffic Investigators have issued an arrest warrant for Vehicular Homicide for the arrest of Jamuse Broussard.  The Vehicular Homicide charge replaces 1 count of the Vehicular Negligent Injury charge.  Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Broussard is encouraged to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Two Year Old in Critical Condition After Crash

Lafayette, LA—On January 16, 2013, at approximately 10:50 pm, Lafayette Police responded to a major crash at the intersection of Moss Street and Van Buren Drive.  Traffic investigators indicate that a green 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on Moss Street, when a gray 2002 GMC Serra, traveling south, attempted to turn left onto Van Buren Drive.   The vehicles collided in the intersection.  The driver of the green Tahoe, Jamuse Broussard (23) of Lafayette, was arrested and charged with OWI, Driving under Suspension, Failure to Yield While Turning Left and 2 counts of Vehicular Negligent Injury.  The driver of the GMC Sierra, a 33 year old male of Lafayette, and his two year old passenger were transported to an area hospital and are listed in Critical Condition. The crash remains under investigation.
