UPDATE: Victim Dies From Injuries

Lafayette, LA – The victim, Gabrielle Spencer (18) of Lafayette, has died as a result of her injuries at a local hospital.  Detectives have upgraded the charges against Adam Batiste to 2^nd Degree Murder.  The investigation remains ongoing.

Police Arrest Suspect on Attempted Second Degree Murder

Lafayette, LA—On January 16, 2013, at approximately 11:00 am, Lafayette Police responded to Morning Glory Square regarding a female victim being unresponsive.  When officers arrived they discovered that the victim had sustained severe bruising on her body.  After investigating the incident, Lafayette Police arrested Adam Batiste (24) for Attempted 2^nd Degree Murder.  Batiste was living at the residence.  The victim was transported to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition. The case remains under investigation.
