Major road closures in Acadia Parish. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development had to close at least six roadways throughout the day. In Crowley, some resident are having to live in cold and wet homes. People are just kind of shuffling around. As it floods in one area, they move to the next.
Chris Stevens of Midland is staying with relatives in Crowley. Stevens' Midland home is flooded. "We have all these bayou, rice fields, crawfish fields and everything when it rains it all starts coming downhill you know"
There's no way around it when the water rises choices have to be made. Some people leave, others stay. Lou Myers of Crowley is one of the lucky ones. She says the water only touched her driveway and that's it. "52 years we've been here and never had water this high."
DOTD has closed a number of roads in Acadia Parish Monday. One road closure is Highway 90 just across the Mermentau River.
