Dual Fatal Crashes in Iberia Parish

In Iberia Parish where two people lost their lives in separate automobile accidents.

The first one claimed the life of a Jeanerette man. Police say it happened on la Highway 85 near College Road.

Investigators say a car traveling north on highway 85 collided into the rear of a sugarcane cart while trying to pass it. Wilbur Alexander (33) was transported to a local hospital where he later died.

The second fatal accident happened in the Lydia area near the intersection of Patoutville Road and Guillot Road. Deputies say a pedestrian was walking across the road when he was struck.

Additional details, including the victims identity and the status of any charges have yet to be made public.
