If you're a driver in Lafayette and you frequently use parking meters, you've probably noticed that you have to pay a bit more.
It will now cost drivers a dollar to park for two hours, a rate that raised 40 cents, and the cost of a one-hour meter raised from 40 cents to 60 cents.
The increase in parking rates was approved by the city-parish council, and went into effect on November first.
Officials believe the parking meters will bring in about $242,000 for fiscal year 2012-13.
