Christmas is over and stores are restocking their shelves. In fact, among the new inventory is UL Bowl Championship memorabilia. Sporting Good stores and even grocery marts are stocking-up. Signs of last Saturday's big win has made it home.
It's been a week since the Ragin Cajuns walked away New Orleans' Bowl Champs for the second straight season. The merchandise to match their success makes its way to Lafayette stores.
Bell's Sporting Goods received its first shipment. Ken Seibold is the store manager. "You know the back to back Tee's. I hope our sales are good and people are still interested in purchasing them."
Bell's has been part of Lafayette for nearly 70 years. UL T-shirts have always been among the inventory. the shelves of the store bare the marks. Seibold says Ragin Cajun shopping is about to move to another level. "It's been a great for the university, great for the athletic program and great for the community of Lafayette."
Even the grocery stores are stocking-up for the craze. Alberston's Grocery has more than food and beverages these days. The store recently put out its shipment of championship gear. Ross Caubarreaux is a UL student.
"I watched it on tv and then while we visited the family of course we had it on ESPN. Of course, I watched the replay again.
Sarah Goodeaux of Scott is in for a surprise. Goodeaux is a Rajun Cajun fan. "They have a special one made with the UL Rajun Cajuns on it. So, I gave some of that for Christmas.'
