Former Lafayette Cardiologist, Mehmood Patel reported to prison on Monday. Patel begin serving a 10 year sentence for healthcare fraud. The former cardiologist lost his appeal to overturn his conviction of 51 counts of federal healthcare fraud. Patel was convicted in 2008, but remained free until this week because he was appealing the conviction.
