Joint Statement from LPSS Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper and Northside High School Principal Melinda Voorhies
Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Dr. Pat Cooper and Northside High School Principal Melinda Voorhies report that Ms. Voorhies has rescinded her resignation request and decided to remain in her position. Dr. Cooper is pleased by her decision, noting that "Ms. Voorhies has many gifts and has done a phenomenal job at NHS and made a positive impact on the students, parents and community. She initially intended to resign as a result of an unfortunate misunderstanding." Dr. Cooper and Ms. Voorhies have met, discussed the situation that led to her initial request, and mutually agreed to work together to avoid similar miscommunications in the future.
"I love the Northside High School community, and I appreciate Dr. Cooper's support for our work there. I look forward to continuing the work we've begun in creating a school that inspires our students to achieve and succeed," said Melinda Voorhies.
