Some 200 children of St. Mary parish inmates received Christmas presents.

The Church of Assumption and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office helped bring Christmas joy to approximately 200 children across St. Mary Parish in the form of toys donated by church members and delivered by deputies. For twelve years the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office has participated in the gifting program by collecting the names, addresses, and wish lists of inmates' children.

As part of the Advent Giving Program, parishioners of the Church of Assumption in Franklin generously fill these wish lists and graciously take on the task of organizing and packaging them for delivery. Members of the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office drive vans loaded down with toy filled bags and bicycles from one end of the parish to the other delivering the gifts to the parents and guardians of the inmates' children.
