AFRICOM GETS RAPID REACTION FORCE

The U-S military announced this week the Army's AFRICOM command is getting a rapid reaction force.  The decision comes following the tragic deaths of the American Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans who were killed during the September 11th attack on the mission in Benghazi.

The special forces unit will be based out of Fort Carson Colorado, the home of the Tenth Special Forces group.  But according to sources close to the move the troops will actually be stationed in Africa.

The AFRICOM command is responsible for an area three times the size of the United States.  And because response time is crucial element of a reaction force the unit will be stationed somewhere in Africa.

The exact location will likely remain classified because the presence of American military personnel on the ground in Africa has long been a very sensitive political issue.  As a result the exact location of the special forces unit will remain a highly guarded secret.
