On December 10, 2012, narcotics-related complaints led members of the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division to 17534 J.B. Averett Road in the town of Livingston. During the investigation that followed, Detectives detected the odor of marijuana within the residence. A search of that home led Detectives to the discovery of two marijuana plants growing in a machine that produced water and lighting to the plants. Detectives also located one marijuana plant growing in a bucket with water and lighting. 44-year old Cary Caruso, Sr. and 19-year old Derek Caruso – father & son - were both arrested on the following charge: Cultivation of Schedule I CDS (marijuana). Both have bonded out of the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Bond was set at $100,000.00 for each inmate. If convicted, each could face a sentence of up to 30 years in jail.
