Police Respond to Shooting at Motel


Lafayette, LA—On Sunday, December 16, 2012, at approximately 12:30 am, Lafayette Police responded to the St. Francis Motel, located in the 1600 block of North University Avenue, regarding a shooting. The victim, a 46 year old male of California, was located lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. According to information obtained at the scene, the victim and a female were inside of a room allegedly using illegal drugs when three black males approached the door. The victim opened the door to the room, at which time one of the suspects opened fire with a handgun, striking the victim four times. The suspects fled the area in a vehicle. The victim was transported to an area hospital and treated for his injuries. The victim is listed in stable condition. 

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
