Two women were arrested after they left a nine month old infant alone in a car for an hour and a half while they gambled inside a truckstop.
29 year old Blair Buller of Eunice and 29 year old Anna Simoneaux of Rayne are scheduled to appear in court this morning.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office Spokesperson, Captain Megan Vizena said, "Blair Buller and Anna Celeste Simoneaux were both booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail facing charges of cruelty to a juvenile."
Vizena said, "On December 13, 2012, our dispatchers received a complaint from a concerned citizen regarding an infant that was left alone in a vehicle at 24/7 Truckstop in Eunice. Once our deputy arrived, he observed the infant inside of the vehicle with no one around. He located the mother, Blair Buller, inside gambling. After Buller was placed under arrest, the deputy reviewed the surveillance video that showed the infant alone in the vehicle for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Anna Celeste Simoneaux accompanied Buller and she was also charged with cruelty to a juvenile. The infant was released to family members and an investigation will be completed by Office of Child Services."
"We encourage anyone that sees something suspicious to call us. If we would not have gotten this call from a concerned citizen, this infant could have lost his life," Vizena added.
