Convicted Felon Accused of Deer-Stand Squatting

Ouachita Parish deputies have arrested a 55-year-old West Monroe man accused of being in someone else's deer stand.

Michael Ray Heisler was booked Monday into Ouachita Correctional Center on charges of trespassing and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. 

An arrest affidavit stated deputies were called to some woods near West Monroe after a victim found Heisler in the victim's deer stand. 

Deputies say when they arrived Heisler was intoxicated and standing in waist-deep water. The report stated Heisler dropped his rifle, but told deputies he did not have a gun.

It was unclear whether Heisler has an attorney.
