THREE FEMALES GET SUB DUTY

     The United States Navy announced this week three women have become the first female officers to ever obtain unrestricted line postings in the submarine service.

     Lt. j.g. Marquette Leveque, a native of Fort Collins Colorado, has been assigned to the Gold Crew of the USS Wyoming SSBN-742.  Lt. j.g. Amber Cowen and LT. j.g.  Jennifer Noonan have been assigned to the Blue Crew of the USS Maine SSBN 741.

     Cmdr. William Johnson, of the Maine's Blue Crew was on hand to see the three woman receive their dolphins and said, "I am honored and pleased to see take part in this event and to see these young women join our elite service after spending the last year preparing themselves for this duty."

     The ceremony took place at the U.S. Navy's submarine base at Kings Bay Georgia.
